I am a firm believer in the teachings of Jesus. The problem is the Christians who only think they do. Since I started a study group I have had a very uncomfortable feeling, stemming from some demands regarding what the group should be. I’m not that kind of Christian. It is up to the Father to Judge not us. Our responsibility is to love All as we love One. I want to discuss the teachings of the Bible and all their interpretations. My fear is that Christians have become known for what they are against rather than what they are for. Jesus would never act this way. Gandhi made an interesting statement. “I like your Jesus. I don’t like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Jesus.” This is a generalization, but there is a small group of us who are making things bad for the rest. People have adopted this stereotype. This makes it difficult to communicate Jesus’ incredible teachings to the unsaved. I want to change this. I think I am going to meet with people before group. This way I can get to know them better first. The energy was not good at the last Meet up. It seemed some had their own agenda. I am very open-minded. Truth is all around us. We hit a road block when we fail to check the facts. As follower of Christ it is our duty to verify, Biblically, what is right and wrong on this earthly plane. This is my intention. Good morning. This is a refreshing and encouraging read. Two statements stuck out; the first being “christians have become known for what they are against rather than what they are for.” This is sad but all too common. We are to lift up Jesus first and foremost. The Holy Spirit will do the drawing if we’ll just be faithful ambassadors.
The statement by Ghandi is equally interesting and it points out the all to common disconnect between Jesus and many who profess to know him. This post should cause every saint to ponder “what kind of Jesus am I presenting to those around me?”

Do you think that some Christians are trying too hard to be what they think Christians should be? Maybe they are in lust with the idea of what they conceive it means to be Christian. I think that is what Jesus was talking about when He said “be still” and the “kingdom is within.” As we become still we relax, slow our mind and get in touch with who we real. When we reach this point we find, in our heart, the answers we seek.
You are right on the mark. I see two problems
– Firstly, we have our own identities – and want to ‘be known’ for them. So we don’t park them at the door.
– Secondly, just as in the world, human nature makes each of us act different, Some are leaders. Some are protagonists. Some need to be seen and known. Some just want to be the clown. In and out of church or bible study this is us – which goes back to point 1, we need to drop it!
Some advice if you are struggling – look into leadership materials – whether in or out of the church, I have found some basic principles on how to deal with people (who are not showing the humility and obedience of Christ) in a productive manner. I know my time leading ‘in the world’ will one day benefit me if I have to lead in a church again.

That is something that people say a lot about me. They like me because I am real in all situations and circumstances. I am that, I am! By being or acting as if we are something that we are not will attract people of a similar nature into our lives, but sooner or later the real entity materializes. Hopefully we did not marry that person who fell in love with the person we only pretended to be. We are always best at being who we are created to be.
