As we ride the proverbial roller coaster through life, we can rest in the fact that while we are low we shall soon be high.
Life is a series of ups and downs.
There are times of great joy and excitement as well as times of sadness and listlessness. If we chose to recognize or interpret this eternal truth, we become enabled and empowered. These are mere characteristics of travel.
It is like the first time we approach a roller coaster as a child. Not being sure what to expect, we may feel fear. The first ride is the most terrifying of all, but the more times we experience it, the less fearful we become. Soon we begin to thirst for the excitement of the fall and wait in anticipation as we ascent to the highest peaks. Unknowingly, we have learned to expect the ups and downs. We have become accustomed to the changes. and find solace – even excitement – in them.
There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
-Proverbs 23:18 (NIV)
What would life be like without change?
Could we truly appreciate the many levels of joy if things were always the same?
Many of us think we would love to have the opportunity for the constant security of a never-changing world. A life without pain for a life without pleasure is a void exchange. I would rather choose hope and ride the roller coaster over and over again.
